Leaving from Ny Sulitjelma we come across two people that had an accident on one of the many snowfields. We offered what little help we could since they were already on the way again and the next hut was not far anymore. Making the best out of the situation we had lunch in the warmth of the cabin out of the rain and wind.
Soon after we crossed into Sweden, where we found out about the difference between walking in Norway and Sweden (although the planks in the landscape make walking easier in Sweden, the huts there are more a shelter than a real home).
We walked through the rolling hills of Padjelanta in beautiful weather and had the first nights frost. Crossing a lake by boat we cheated a bit, but it saved us a 80 km detour and with winter sitting in our necks we decided that once is ok...
The weather now turns quite cold, wet and windy and camping gets less comfortable when the fingers get icy and it is snowing when eating breakfast. But the landscape is very pretty with a bit of fresh snow on the mountaintops. We see the northern lights and get the greatest gift of all when some polarfoxes visit our campsite on a still very busy Kungsleden. Now we are in Abisko, filling our backpacks with food again, enjoying a warm bed inside and a sauna before heading back into Norway again
