A few sunny days after leaving Snåsa we celebrated Jakobs birthday by having some fyrsekake wheile sheltering under trees from the rain. After that we crossed many a mountainrange in threatening but mostly dry weather, until we came at a lake that had a mountain in the middle. There we had to seek shelter from a thunderstorm rolling overhead in a kids toyshed. We hitched to Namsskogan and back to do some shoppings and met a group of Dutchmen in oldtimers that were on their way back from Nordkap. And although it took them only 10 days up north, sitting in a car where you have to demontate the steer before you can get out, walking might be more comfortable - and for sure warmer. In 4 very tough days we crossed Børgefjell where, with ice on the lakes and a lot of snow still, spring was just about to arrive. Without paths and no bridges all the high rivers were a problem and forced us to walk ever bigger detours. That, on top of the bad weather didn't really give us the chance to enjoy this beautiful national park. Being happy to be out again the weather turned to summer and after a long but very beautiful first day on Nordlandsruta we got unexpectedly rewarded with a cool beer and a cabin. Since then we have been following Nordlandsruta in very, very beautiful weather celebrating every single drop of sweat we shead climbing up and down mountains.
Yesterday we arrived in Umbukta fjellstue where we had an unexpected meeting: Tony who is also on his way to Nordkap. After some washing of ourselves and our cloths we enjoyed the sun and a nice conversation. We treated ourselves on a hamburger and shared a big bowl of chocopudding with bananas, strawberries and vanilla sauce. Thanks again for that:)
Today we got a ride to Mo I Rana where we did shoppings. Jakob got his shoes repaired and Melissa had to get a new pair; it seems that shoes are not made for walking such long distances.
Tomorrow we will continue on Nordlandsruta to Saltfjell and Sulitjelma, accompanied by the sun :)
